Season 1 Episode 4
Guardian of the Depths
Hajime and Yue encounter a powerful foe in the deepest depths of the Labyrinth. Will they be able to defeat it and find a way out?
THOUGHTS:
Hajime and Yue have made it to the Maverick's Lair, but a large monster attacks them. The monster is a multi-headed Hydra-type creature that is near invincible. They both struggle and end up near death, but somehow they are able to defeat it. I was actually really confused during part of the battle. I couldn't really tell if it was actually happening or if Hajime was having some kind of delusion in his weakened state. Something about it had to have been real for them to have won. I loved the part where Hajime called Yue his "beloved partner." This lovey-dovey connection between them is developing rather quickly. Not that I'm hating it or anything. You can tell that something isn't right about the world above. The church is forcing the students to fight? Or something. It just feels like something malicious is going on. It's nice that someone is looking out for them.

Season 1 Episode 4
Cinderella Can’t Come Out?!
Keiki continues to receive mixed messages from Mao. Could she be the elusive Cinderella, or is she in love with someone else? Keiki decides that he must confront Mao directly to find out.
THOUGHTS:
Mao seems upset with Keiki about something. Sayuki and Yuika want him to make up with her as quickly as possible, since she and Keiki are close friends, so they promise to behave themselves in the meantime. Mao wants to hangout with Keiki and Shoma like they used to, but is it really just to hangout with close friends or for another purpose. As with all the other girls so far, there's something offputting about her for Keiki. Turns out she's a fujoshi and she wants Keiki and Shoma to be together. Poor Keiki just can't catch a break. He can't find any "normal" girls around him. I loved Mao's "Fujoshi Switch," which is just her putting on a pair of glasses. The "Shortcake" manga is hilarious too. I actually really enjoyed this episode. Mao is actually pretty awesome. She's not going to make things any easier for Keiki, that's for sure.

THOUGHTS:
While the retainers of the Oda Family quarrel over who should be the head of the clan, Nobunaga or Nobukatsu, Oda Nobutomo of the Principal Line makes moves against the Oda Clan. They are being seen as unreliable because of failures that shouldn't have happened. If Nobunaga decides to go against the Principal Line they'll be seen as rebels. While this is going on, Hirate who was like a second father to Nobunaga becomes seriously ill. It's Hirate's final wish that pushes Nobunaga to make his final decision to go to war with the Principal Line. There is so much that happened in just this one episode! It's amazing how much backstabbing there was within the Oda Family. Just because Nobunaga is eccentric, the retainers saw him as scatterbrained. How many times does he need to prove them wrong before they trust him? I loved the relationship between Nobunaga and Hirate, so you can imagine how heartbreaking it was when Hirate became ill. Nobunaga's sadness just breaks your heart. He's now lost both fathers. Sumo as a stress-reliever was pretty entertaining.
