Kyoto Animation has announced in celebration of the 8th anniversary of their Free! franchise, that they will be releasing a new film titled, Free!–the Final Stroke–.
The film will be released in two parts: the first part will premiere September 17, 2021 in Japan, and the second part will premiere April 22, 2022 in Japan.
Eisaku Kawanami is returning from previous projects in the franchise to direct the film at Kyoto Animation.
Nobunaga Shimazaki is reprising his role as Haruka Nanase.
The tagline for the film reads in English: “Let’s go to the stage of glory…”
