The official website and Twitter account for the TV anime adaptation of Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura's Blue Lock manga has announced that the series is getting a second season and a anime film.
The film will be based on the BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi- spinoff manga, which focuses on Seishirō Nagi before he enters Blue Lock.

Tetsuaki Watanabe is directing the anime at 8-Bit with Shunsuke Ishikawa as assistant director. Taku Kishimoto is supervising and writing the series scripts, and the manga's Kaneshiro is supervising the story. Yutaka Uemura is the concept advisor. Masaru Shindō is the main character designer and chief animation director, and Kenji Tanabe and Kento Toya are also acharacter designers and chief animation directors. Hisashi Tojima is serving as the chief action director and Hiromi Sakamoto is serving as an action director. Jun☆Murayama is composing the music.

The anime premiered on October 8, 2022 on TV Asahi's NUMAnimation programming block. Crunchyroll streams the anime as part of their Fall 2022 season lineup. The anime ran for two consecutive cours with 24 episodes. Cour 2 premiered on January 7, 2023.
