The story of pet follows a group of psychics that have the power to telepathically dive into the minds of other people in order to manipulate their memories. This power is often used for hiding the evidence of crimes (such as assassination), and it corrupts the hearts of those who wield it. The people who practice this fearful ability are known as "pets", a term of loathing and contempt. Hiroyuki and Tsukasa are two such "pets" who share a special connection, but a secret organization known as "The Company" takes advantage of their bond and uses them for nefarious purposes.
