The official website for the live-action adaptation of Umi Shiina's I Want to Hold Aono-kun So Badly I Could Die (Aono-kun ni Sawaritai kara Shinitai) manga has announced that Hikaru Takahashi will play Yuri Kariya.

When I read the original story for the first time, I felt like I was on a roller coaster of emotions, and there were times when I was thrilled, and other times when I was on the edge of my seat, and there were scenes that made me shout out. I was so excited to be able to make such a wonderful work into a film!
My character, Yuri, is in love with the ghost, Aono-kun, and the distance between the two of them, where they cannot touch each other even though they are right in front of each other, is very painful, but the way they face each other is wonderfully depicted.
This is the first time I have worked with Katsutoshi Sato, but when he is around, there is always a lot of laughter on set and the teamwork with the film crew is great, so it was a very quick shoot.
"It's a new kind of horror love story." I'm sure there are still some people who don't know what that means.

This is my first attempt at a love story, so I want to show a different side of me. The original story was so shocking that I couldn't sleep because I was scared when I read it alone. Aono-kun, the character I play, is dead, possesses people, and turns into a black Aono-kun. However, from Yuuri's point of view, Aono-kun is a beautiful, sparkling existence. This gap creates a unique view of the world in this work, and I hope everyone will enjoy it. As it is called "a new kind of horror love story," at the entrance it looks like a classic love story, but once you get inside, the story takes a sudden turn as if you are in a maze, so I hope you will get lost in this world.
Fear, surprise, annoyance, love, eros... it's a work that mixes various elements and makes you lose sleep in many ways, so please look forward to its broadcast and distribution.
